WHAT DATES ARE AVAILABLE IN THE MONTH I'M CONSIDERING?
Why you want to know: This is the first question you should ask, especially if you’re planning on getting married in a popular month like June, September or October. If your date is set and the venue can’t accommodate it, then don’t waste any valuable time on further planning! Move on to the next choice on your list.
CAN I SEE A CLEAR PRICE BREAKDOWN, AND ARE THERE HIDDEN FEES?
Why you want to know: Venues know exactly how much it costs to have a wedding at their site, but they’ll sometimes avoid this conversation to prevent sticker shock. Like any other contract, you’re entitled to know EXACTLY what the bottom line is before signing and paying a deposit. Don’t forget to ask about hidden fees (they exist!), like for changing the setup or even having fewer guests than originally planned.
CAN I HOLD MY CEREMONY HERE, TOO?
Why you want to know: For those looking for an alternative to a church or chapel, this is an important question. Be sure to find out if there is an additional charge, if the ceremony area is close to the reception area, if there are changing areas for the bride and groom, and how much time is allocated for the rehearsal. WHAT’S YOUR DEPOSIT/CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY?
Why you want to know: Here’s where you’ll want to ask to see a sample contract (a totally acceptable request) or ask to have their deposit/cancellation/refund policy outlined on paper for you. Things happen, and you'll want to know that you can recover any losses before you book.
